우주의 바운티 헌터들과 함께 우주로 떠났던 찰리(돈 오퍼 분)는 지구에선 별볼일 없던 때와는 달리 우주 괴물 사냥에 맹활약을 하고 있다. 이때 다시 지구에 크리터의 생존이 확인되자 다시 임무를 받고 지구로 향한다. 한편, 2년전 무시 무시한 크리터의 기습을 퇴치한 후 마을을 떠났던 소년 브래드 브라운(스콧 그림스 분)이 고향 글로버스 벤드에 잠시 돌아온다. 폐허가 된 농장에 얼룩덜룩한 가죽빛 알들이 부화하기 시작하고, 알에서 튀어나온 괴물 크리터스는 다시 인간들을 습격해 온다. 마을 보안관의 옷 속으로 들어가고 난 후 조금 있다가 그는 온몸이 피로 범벅이 된 채 죽어간다. 또 잡화상 퀴들리는 자기의 애견이 크리터스에게 잡혀먹는 광경을 직접 목격해야만 한다. 모든 것을 먹이로 보는 크리터스들의 습격으로 한마을이 일시에 수라장이 되는 것이다. 플레이 보이지의 요염한 걸로 변한 우그(테렌스 만 분)의 파트너 리도 괴물에게 죽음을 당하자, 위기에 빠진 마을 사람들을 구하기 위해 브래드는 묘안을 생각해 낸다. 크리터들을 햄버거 공장으로 유인하여 폭발시키는 것. 하지만 모두 퇴치했다고 생각한 크리터들이 둥글게 큰 공을 만들어 폭발 속을 빠져나와 마을 아이들이 있는 곳으로 향한다. 이때 찰리가 우주선을 몰아 크리터 무리 속으로 뛰어들어 마침내 위기에 빠진 아이들을 구해낸다.
